Book Week

MESS - Book Week 2013 Celebrations

Read Across the Universe

Monday 19 August – Friday 23 August

Book Week is a Nation wide celebration organised by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA). The CBCA organises the annual Children’s book of the year awards. Each year they select books, from the many put forward, for a short-list in the categories of – picture book, early childhood, younger readers, older readers and non-fiction. During Book week the winner of each category is announced, they are usually found in Saturday’s Courier Mail (17 August). Some of these short-listed books and winners are in our library and will be featured leading up to and during our Book Week celebrations.

Book Week provides an opportunity to celebrate a love of books and reading. It is an important week in the school’s calendar. This year’s theme is Read Across the Universe. The library has displays and activities focusing on various aspects of the theme, to allow our students to explore their own reading universe.
