Morayfield East State School is offering the opportunity for students to join various clubs and teams during break times as part of our Learning Extension and Enrichment Programs (L.E.E.P.). These groups will give your child a great opportunity to explore areas of interest beyond the scope of their regular class activities. The purpose of these activities is threefold:
To provide enjoyment in an activity which the student either already likes, or which they would like to learn about.
To provide an extension or enrichment learning opportunity in a curriculum or extra-curricular area
To provide the opportunity for students to participate in a competition or project, or to display or present what they have learned for others.
Our committed teachers will provide these opportunities in the lunch times and/or before and after school, when they do not have playground duties or other responsibilities and meetings. All planning for these activities will be completed in the teachers’ own time as well. For this reason we are requiring that students sign a contract, which asks them to commit to the club for a given period of time by attending regularly and participating enthusiastically.
A register of attendance will be kept and any students who do not attend regularly or who do not participate appropriately will need to withdraw. Should this happen, Parents and the relevant Sector Deputy Principal will be notified and the child will no longer be able to attend.
At the completion of the project, competition or presentation students will receive a Certificate of Participation which can be displayed in their RAP books (Record of Achievement and Participation).
We hope that you are able to encourage your children to participate in these activities, and that you are able to attend some of the presentations and displays. If your child does participate in a club, a parent notification and/ or permission form will be sent home in the first instance.
Currently, we have a Dance Team and a Robotics Team established and we look forward to seeing what they can produce.
