Scholastic Book Club
Morayfield East State School is proud to offer Scholastic Book Club to our families. Book Club is a convenient way to bring the best in children’s literature into the home. Each issue contains curated, age-appropriate titles that have been carefully selected and levelled by a dedicated team of professional booklovers. For every Book Club order placed, Scholastic gives back 20% of the order spend to schools to purchase valuable educational resources via its Scholastic Rewards program.
Scholastic Book Fair
Our school library runs an exciting Book Fair once per year. During Book Fair our Library is turned into a Pop Up book store, where students, families and the school community can purchase wonderful literary items.
Book Week
Book Week is a Nation wide celebration organised by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA). The CBCA organises the annual Children’s book of the year awards. Each year they select books, from the many put forward, for a short-list in the categories of – picture book, early childhood, younger readers, older readers and non-fiction. Some of these short-listed books and winners are in our library and will be featured leading up to and during our Book Week celebrations.
Book Week provides an opportunity to celebrate a love of books and reading. It is an important week in the school’s calendar.
National Simultaneous Story Time
National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
National Simultaneous Storytime is a day annually celebrated in our school library.
