Chaplaincy services at Morayfield East State School

Chaplaincy services at Morayfield East State School provide positive, supportive and fun activities for the school’s students both in and outside school time, and foster a supportive, caring school community. The Chaplain at Morayfield East:

  •  runs lunch time activity groups for both upper and lower students
  •  facilitates group and school wide programs in response to student needs
  •  provides individual support for children, parents and staff who face significant life     issues.

Chaplaincy services offer hope, connection, meaning and purpose to the school community. Chaplaincy enhances vital links between the school and the local community. Currently Morayfield East State School’s chaplaincy service is offered three days a week. Two of these days are federally funded through Scripture Union Queensland, with the other day funded by donations and local community fund raising.

Guidance Support

The Department of Education’s vision for a creative and clever Queensland built on a quality education system, is supported through the provision of a comprehensive guidance and counselling service provided directly to students and their families in all primary, secondary, special schools and other departmental facilities across the state.

Guidance and counselling services focus on assisting students to achieve their potential in the most appropriate educational setting for them. Guidance Officers identify factors that can be barriers to academic learning and social-emotional development. They may plan, or assist in planning and facilitating targeted support programs that can help students achieve positive outcomes.

Guidance Officers may work directly with the student or with the student's teachers, support personnel, family, other specialists, or external agencies, depending on the presenting issues and the age and developmental stage of the student. A range of challenging issues may be supported by Guidance Officers; including personal and social-emotional development of students, administration of cognitive assessments and reports, counselling for issues that impact on school attendance and engagement, educational and career pathways, and referrals advice that can support families to access external providers.

Guidance Officers respect client privacy and follow confidentiality guidelines, and work as members of a support team in schools. Guidance Officers are committed to assist in providing quality education services, to enhance the educational opportunities and outcomes for all Queensland students.

If you would like to speak with the Morayfield East State School Guidance Officer, please feel free to contact the school office to make an appointment.
